Chinmay Sutar Achieves Historic 400 Not Out in Ranji Trophy
Mumbai batter Chinmay Sutar set a remarkable record on Monday by scoring 400 not out in his second first-class match. This achievement occurred during a Ranji Trophy Plate group match at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium, where Sutar faced 517 balls and hit 46 fours and seven sixes.
In his innings, Sutar surpassed Prithvi Shaw's previous record of 379, marking the second-highest score in Ranji Trophy history. He joined BB Nimbalkar as only the second Indian to score 400 in a first-class match, with Nimbalkar holding the all-time record of 443 not out from 1948-49. Sutar reached his milestone in the 155th over, shortly after Mizoram declared their innings at 581 for nine.
Sutar's performance included a significant unbeaten partnership of 190 runs for the tenth wicket with Lalrempunia Chhakchhuak, who contributed 14 runs. The second-highest score in Mizoram's innings was 69 by Jehu Anderson. Sutar had previously made a notable debut, falling just short of a century with a score of 99 against Manipur.
