Christian McCaffrey Returns to Practice After Planned Absence
Christian McCaffrey returned to practice with the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, marking his first session with teammates since August 8.
His recent absence was described as part of a load management strategy, which McCaffrey confirmed was planned to ensure he remains fresh throughout the season. He noted that the approach involved ramping up practice intensity before tapering off.
McCaffrey, who had previously dealt with injuries including Achilles tendinitis and a posterior collateral ligament issue, led the league with 413 touches last year. Despite concerns about his contract status, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan clarified that McCaffrey's absence was not contract-related.
