AC Milan initially fell behind as Lazio scored two goals, but coach Ruben Amorim made significant halftime substitutions, bringing on Pulisic and new signing Diego Moreira. Pulisic quickly made an impact by assisting Moreira's first goal, who then scored a brace within three minutes.
