Koren had advanced to the semifinal after defeating Japan's Ryuho Miyaguchi in the quarterfinals. During the match against Tajima, Koren started with an aggressive approach, utilizing leg kicks and securing a takedown. However, Tajima managed to regain his footing and countered with effective strikes.

Despite Koren controlling the fight for significant periods, including over eight minutes on the mat, Tajima's ability to land punches and knees during exchanges proved crucial. This loss marks the end of Koren's bid for a UFC contract, following a notable comeback after previous challenges in his career.
