Cignetti Anticipates Improved Performance from QB Josh Hoover Against Minnesota
Indiana's head coach Curt Cignetti expressed confidence on Monday that quarterback Josh Hoover will start and improve his performance in the game against Minnesota on Saturday. Hoover played through a right arm injury during the previous match against Michigan, where he completed 8 of 18 passes for 81 yards, marking his first interception of the season.
Despite his struggles, Hoover contributed to Indiana's victory over Michigan, scoring the winning touchdown in overtime, which secured the Hoosiers' first win at Michigan since 1967. Cignetti noted that the team had a run-heavy game plan against Michigan and considered substituting Hoover but ultimately decided against it. Hoover's resilience was evident as he managed to connect on a crucial pass that set up the winning score.
Looking ahead, Cignetti expects his receivers to support Hoover more effectively against the Golden Gophers, who have won four of their last five games. He acknowledged that the team did not perform well in the passing game during the last match and anticipates improvements this week.
