C.J. Gardner-Johnson Injures Leg During Bills Training Camp
PITTSFORD, N.Y — C.J. Gardner-Johnson, a safety for the Buffalo Bills, sustained a lower right leg injury during a training camp practice on Saturday and is currently undergoing tests to evaluate the extent of the injury.
The incident occurred about an hour into practice when Gardner-Johnson fell to his knees after defending a pass play. A trainer attended to him, focusing on the back of his right foot. Initially, he could not put weight on the leg but managed to take steps while being escorted to the medical tent before being carted off to the locker room.
Gardner-Johnson, who joined the team as a key offseason free-agent acquisition, is expected to compete for a starting position in the Bills' revamped defense under new coordinator Jim Leonhard. He has quickly become a respected figure among teammates and is seen as a vocal leader in the secondary.
