C.J. Stroud Set to Play Against Raiders
Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans has announced that quarterback C.J. Stroud will play in the preseason game against the Raiders, despite previously indicating that starters would not participate.
Initially, Ryans planned for the starters to play, but he later decided they had sufficient practice time and would sit out. However, Stroud's participation is confirmed, marking his first game since a challenging playoff performance where he had multiple turnovers.
While Stroud will take the field, the Texans' defensive starters are not expected to play. Additionally, discussions regarding a contract extension for Stroud are ongoing, but no agreement has been reached yet. The Texans have already exercised the fifth-year option on his contract for 2027.
