At WWE Roadblock: End of the Line in 2016, Claudio Castagnoli, known as Cesaro, and Sheamus ended the New Day's 483-day tag team championship reign in a notable match. The conclusion of the contest is particularly remembered for its unique finish, where Sheamus feigned a tag to Castagnoli, leading to Kofi Kingston mistakenly delivering his finisher to Castagnoli instead of Sheamus, who then secured the victory.

Castagnoli shared in a recent interview that the idea for the fake tag was inspired by baseball players stealing bases. He noted that this approach was a reversal of typical tag match dynamics, aiming to create a surprising and fitting conclusion to the New Day's record title reign.

Although their victory was significant, Castagnoli and Sheamus held the tag titles for only 42 days before losing them to Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows at the Royal Rumble.
