Cleveland Browns Activate QB Dillon Gabriel Ahead of Week 8
The Cleveland Browns have activated quarterback Dillon Gabriel to their 53-man roster, concluding his time on injured reserve. This move, made on Monday, required the team to waive rookie tight end Carsen Ryan.
With Gabriel's activation, the Browns now have four quarterbacks on their active roster: starter Deshaun Watson, Shedeur Sanders, Gabriel, and undrafted rookie Taylen Green. Gabriel's return follows a recovery from a back injury that had sidelined him since August 30, and he became eligible to practice on October 6.
Despite being activated, Gabriel did not play in the recent game against the Tennessee Titans, where the Browns secured a 27-24 victory. The team currently leads the AFC North with a 5-2 record, and Watson recently achieved his first 300-yard passing game with the Browns. The organization is reportedly satisfied with Sanders' development as the primary backup and is open to trading either Sanders or Gabriel if a compelling offer arises before the November 10 trade deadline.
