The Cleveland Browns have designated Deshaun Watson as their starting quarterback for the opening week of the regular season, although his position may be precarious.

Watson is believed to have a two-week window to prove his capabilities as the starter, with the first two games taking place away from home. The Browns will not play in front of their fans until Week 3 against the Carolina Panthers.

If Watson does not perform well, there is speculation that Shedeur Sanders could take over the starting role in Week 3. Watson, who signed a $230 million contract extension in 2022, has played only nine games for the Browns, recording 3,365 passing yards and 19 touchdowns against 12 interceptions.
