Cleveland Browns Release Tight End Dae’Quan Wright
The Cleveland Browns have waived tight end Dae’Quan Wright, ending his brief tenure with the team. Wright, who was claimed off waivers earlier this month, is now set to return to college football at LSU, contingent on clearing NFL waivers.
Wright, standing 6-foot-4 and weighing approximately 246 pounds, initially signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent after the 2026 NFL Draft but was released shortly thereafter. He did not participate in the Browns' first two preseason games due to injury, although he was dressed for a game against the Buffalo Bills.
This release coincides with Wright's decision to seek another year of college eligibility, having entered the transfer portal following a temporary restraining order that allows athletes to return for a fifth season under new NCAA rules. His agents confirmed that he has an agreement to play at LSU in 2026, provided he is not claimed by another NFL team.
