Cleveland Browns Strengthen Cornerback Depth Ahead of Preseason Finale

The Cleveland Browns have taken steps to enhance their cornerback depth before their final preseason game against the New England Patriots. This move comes as the team has faced concerns regarding their cornerback lineup beyond starters Denzel Ward and Tyson Campbell.

To address this issue, the Browns have claimed Mekhi Blackmon, a former cornerback for the Indianapolis Colts, off waivers. Blackmon, a third-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, had a notable season with the Colts in 2025, starting 11 of 14 games and recording two interceptions, seven pass breakups, and 64 tackles.

While Blackmon will not join the team until next week, his addition is seen as a necessary step for the Browns. The team may still look to make further adjustments to their cornerback position and improve their pass rush depth as the regular season approaches.
