Cleveland Browns Tight End Joe Royer Absent from Training Camp
The Cleveland Browns are currently facing a challenge as rookie tight end Joe Royer has not been practicing during training camp. His absence is concerning for the team, especially after they released David Njoku in the offseason, banking on the development of second-year tight end Harold Fannin Jr.
Fannin had a notable rookie season, leading the team in receiving yards, but the Browns are in need of a second tight end to support their offense. Royer, a fifth-round pick from Cincinnati and Ohio State, is dealing with an undisclosed matter that has kept him from joining the team, which is crucial for their tight end depth.
With Royer absent, the Browns are relying on free agent Jack Stoll, Blake Whiteheart, and seventh-round rookie Carsen Ryan to fill the tight end position. Coach Todd Monken expressed hope for Royer's return but could not provide a timeline. If Royer does not return soon, he risks missing the entire preseason, which could hinder his chances of securing a role in his first year.
