Cleveland Sirens Introduced as WNBA Expansion Team

Cleveland's new WNBA expansion team has been named the Cleveland Sirens. The team's name and branding were introduced during an event at Rocket Arena, with the goal of creating an identity that is separate from the Cavaliers and tied to Lake Erie.

The Sirens' logo features a siren underneath the team name, with the letter 'S' in the wordmark concealing 'CLE'. The team's colors are inspired by Lake Erie and the Rockers, Cleveland's original WNBA team that folded in 2003. The team is set to begin play in 2028 and has already received 9,000 deposits for season tickets.

The introduction of the Sirens marks Cleveland's return to the WNBA, with the team's president of business operations, Allison Howard, expecting an increase in season ticket deposits now that the name has been announced. The team's ownership group, Rock Entertainment Group, paid a $250 million expansion fee to bring the WNBA back to Cleveland.
