Cliftonville Welcomes TIG Takeover with Ambitious Plans
Conor Devine, the newly appointed director of Cliftonville, has shared his enthusiasm for the club's future following the Toronto Investment Group's (TIG) takeover. The takeover was approved by Cliftonville members, who voted in favor of the deal that grants TIG a 90% stake in the club, with plans for a £3 million investment over the next three years.
Devine highlighted the potential for Champions League nights at Solitude, recalling past experiences of full stadiums during significant matches. He emphasized the importance of community support and collaboration among members to realize this vision. The takeover also aligns with Cliftonville's commitment to improve their stadium through the NI Football Fund, with an application exceeding £6 million.
Despite challenges during the takeover process, which spanned over two years, the recent vote saw 81% approval from members. Devine reassured that the club's identity, including its colors and culture, will remain intact. He described the investment from TIG as a long-term commitment, aiming to create positive change in the local area.
