Clippers Confirm Niederhauser's Third-Year Option for 2027/28
The Los Angeles Clippers have opted to exercise Yanic Konan Niederhauser's third-year option for the 2027/28 season, as reported by Law Murray of The Athletic.
Niederhauser's option, valued at over $3 million, is now fully guaranteed. The center, selected 30th overall in the 2025 draft from Penn State, had limited playtime during his rookie season due to a Lisfranc injury that required season-ending surgery in March. Before his injury, he averaged 4.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 0.7 blocks in 10.3 minutes per game across 41 games.
Prior to his injury, Niederhauser had begun to establish himself in the Clippers' rotation, particularly after a trade that sent Ivica Zubac to Indiana, which allowed him more playing time. In his last nine games before the injury, he averaged 7.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks in 16.6 minutes per game. Although he has not yet debuted this season following a follow-up procedure on his foot in July, the Clippers' decision to retain his option indicates he remains a part of their future plans.
