CM Punk Honors Dory Funk Jr. at WWE Event in Virginia
At a WWE house show in Fairfax, Virginia, CM Punk paid tribute to the late Dory Funk Jr. on Thursday night. The event took place at EagleBank Arena and attracted approximately 5,680 attendees.
Punk and Cody Rhodes competed in the main event, defeating Gunther and Ricky Saints. In a nod to Funk Jr., who passed away on August 4 at the age of 85, Punk executed a spinning toe hold instead of going for a pin after delivering a GTS to Saints. This move was a signature of Funk Jr. and was also used by his brother, Terry Funk, whom Punk honored at WWE SummerSlam by attempting a moonsault reminiscent of Terry's style.
Footage of Punk's tribute during the match has been shared on social media, showcasing the spinning toe hold he performed.
