Coburg Lions Players Attract AFL Interest Ahead of Tasmania's Entry

The impending entry of the Tasmania Devils into the AFL is set to expand the pool of players eligible for the league, with four standout athletes from the Coburg Lions being considered for recruitment. Coach Jamie Cassidy-McNamara highlighted the strong seasons of Tom Barnett, Donovan Toohey, Ingo Dammer-Smith, and Will Hoare as key factors in attracting attention from AFL scouts.

Barnett, a key defender, was close to being selected in the mid-season draft but suffered a broken leg shortly after. Toohey has excelled as a versatile player, while Dammersmith and Hoare are recognized for their intercepting skills. Their contributions nearly led the Lions to the finals, as they missed out on a Wildcard Final by a narrow margin.

In addition to the Lions quartet, former Collingwood forward Jaidyn Stephenson has also received endorsement from Cassidy-McNamara. After a stint at Port Adelaide, Stephenson has shown significant improvement and consistency, making him a potential candidate for AFL clubs seeking talent.
