Coco Gauff Advances in US Open; Anisimova and Keys Eliminated
Coco Gauff has advanced to the fourth round of the US Open, marking her 19th appearance at this stage in a Grand Slam. Compatriots Amanda Anisimova and Madison Keys, however, faced defeats, creating a mixed atmosphere for American fans in New York.
Gauff, the reigning champion, secured her place by defeating Spain's Cristina Bucsa with a score of 6-3, 6-4. In contrast, Keys, who had a strong lead against China's Zheng Qinwen, lost after leading 5-0 in the third set. Anisimova was eliminated in straight sets by Anastasia Potapova.
Despite the setbacks, there remains the possibility of five American women reaching the last 16, with Iva Jovic still in contention. Gauff's victory continues her impressive form, as she aims to improve upon her previous fourth-round exits in the last two tournaments.
