Coco Gauff Claims Cincinnati Open Title Ahead of US Open
Coco Gauff triumphed over Jessica Pegula in the Cincinnati Open final, securing her first title of 2026 just before the US Open. The match concluded with Gauff winning 6-2, 6-4 in just over an hour.
This victory marks Gauff's second title at the WTA 1,000 event, making her one of only three players to achieve this, alongside Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka. Gauff's previous Cincinnati win in 2023 led to her first Grand Slam title at the US Open shortly after.
In the men's final, Arthur Fils claimed his first ATP Masters 1,000 title by defeating Frances Tiafoe with a score of 6-3, 1-6, 6-0. Fils, who has faced injury challenges, expressed his satisfaction with the win, which elevates him to a career-high ranking of 11th.
