Cody Bellinger Returns to Yankees After Injury
The New York Yankees have activated outfielder Cody Bellinger from the injured list after he missed 25 games due to a strained left hamstring. His return comes as the team faces the Toronto Blue Jays in the final game of a three-game series.
Bellinger, who batted fourth and started in left field, last played on July 25. He suffered a Grade 2 strain while running the bases and was initially expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks. Yankees manager Aaron Boone expressed enthusiasm about Bellinger's return, noting his successful rehabilitation and readiness to play.
This season, Bellinger has a batting average of .259 with 11 home runs and 53 RBIs over 102 games. He had been performing well prior to his injury, hitting .372 in his last 12 games. The Yankees managed a record of 14-11 during his absence and are currently three games behind the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL East. To accommodate Bellinger, Max Schuemann was sent back to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre.
