Cody Bellinger Set for Rehab Assignment as Yankees Monitor Max Fried's Injury
BALTIMORE — Cody Bellinger, an outfielder for the New York Yankees, is anticipated to begin a rehab assignment with triple-A Scranton on Thursday.
Bellinger has been sidelined on the 10-day injured list due to a left hamstring strain since July 26. He reported feeling nearly fully recovered and is optimistic about participating in several rehab games. The three-time all-star has a batting average of .259 with 11 home runs over 103 games this season.
In a related update, Yankees manager Aaron Boone is hopeful that left-handed pitcher Max Fried's recent injury will not keep him out for long. Fried was placed on the 15-day injured list on Monday due to inflammation from a previous elbow bone bruise. Boone indicated that Fried's recovery might be quicker this time, as he has maintained a 2.81 ERA over 15 starts this season.
