Cogmans Trail Run Celebrates Growth in Montagu

The Cogmans Trail Run, held annually in July, takes place in the Montagu Trails Network, known for its challenging terrain and stunning views. This event features various distances that lead runners around the Montagu bowl, including summits of Aasvoëlkrans Peak, Cogmans Peak, and Bloupunt Peak, which stands at 1266 meters.

Since its launch in 2023, the race has grown from 58 participants to over 700, reflecting its rising popularity among trail runners in South Africa. The event was created to highlight the hidden trails of the Langeberg Mountains and fill a gap in the winter trail running calendar.

Montagu, surrounded by the Cape Fold Belt mountain range, offers not only a challenging race but also opportunities for relaxation in its famous natural hot springs. The Cogmans Trail Run has evolved into a community celebration, emphasizing adventure and the unique landscape of Montagu.
