Colby Thomas Traded to Phillies, Reflects on Growth and New Opportunities
Colby Thomas, an outfielder previously with the Athletics, learned of his trade to the Philadelphia Phillies while driving through the desert. He received the call from Athletics general manager David Forst shortly after the trade deadline, informing him he would be joining the Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs.
During his first month of 2026 at Triple-A, Thomas batted .309 before being promoted to the major leagues, where he faced challenges with a .202 batting average over 55 games. He has focused on learning from experienced teammates and adjusting his approach to the game, emphasizing the importance of mental composure.
Recently joining the IronPigs, Thomas has already contributed with a .273 batting average in four games. His addition to the team enhances their outfield depth, providing manager Chris Adamson with more options as the season progresses.
