Cole Kmet Suffers Serious Knee Injury, Ending Season for Bears Tight End
The Chicago Bears received disappointing news following their recent victory over the New England Patriots, as tight end Cole Kmet has sustained a serious knee injury. Head coach Ben Johnson confirmed that Kmet will be placed on injured reserve, effectively concluding his 2026 season.
Kmet had recorded three receptions for 28 yards in the game before exiting in the fourth quarter. Throughout the season, he had accumulated 10 receptions for 87 yards and one touchdown over seven games. Johnson expressed his deep respect for Kmet, acknowledging the significant impact of his absence on the team.
Drafted in the second round in 2020, Kmet has been a reliable player, participating in 16 of 17 games last season and achieving career-highs in receptions and yards in 2023. Over his career, he has made 298 receptions for 3,026 yards and 22 touchdowns.
