Despite the early setback, Coleraine rallied to score three goals, with Joel Cooper netting the decisive goal late in the match. This victory not only handed Larne their first league defeat of the season but also positioned Coleraine six points ahead of Linfield and eleven points clear of Larne in the standings.

Higgins expressed pride in his team's resilience, highlighting their ability to recover after conceding. Larne's manager, Gary Haveron, criticized his team's defensive performance, noting the disappointment of losing a match they initially controlled.
