Collingwood Coach Comments on Zak Butters' Free Agency Decision
Collingwood coach Craig McRae acknowledged the club's involvement in the pursuit of Port Adelaide free agent Zak Butters, who has decided to explore other options instead of joining the Pies.
Butters confirmed his exit from Port Adelaide earlier this week and is considering offers from Geelong, Richmond, and the Western Bulldogs. McRae noted that while the club aimed to strengthen its roster, they respect Butters' decision and wish him well.
Collingwood has been active in the free agency market, with McRae mentioning potential interest in delisted players Jesse Hogan and Jake Stringer, although Stringer's move seems unlikely. Additionally, the club is looking to secure Brisbane's Lachie Neale in the upcoming off-season. McRae also addressed Scott Pendlebury's situation, as the veteran player is currently recovering from a hamstring injury and has attracted interest from Gold Coast and Essendon.
