Collingwood Signs Irish Rookie Finnbarr Roarty
Collingwood has secured the signing of Finnbarr Roarty, an Irish rookie, on a two-year contract. The 20-year-old hails from Donegal in north west Ireland and has been recognized as one of Gaelic football's rising stars, having earned the 2025 Young Footballer of the Year award for Donegal.
Roarty joins Collingwood as a Category B Rookie and becomes the sixth Irish player in the club's history. Previous players include Martin Clarke, Denis Lanigan, Caolan Mooney, Mark Keane, and Anton Tohill. His signing follows St Kilda's acquisition of Kobe McDonald, another emerging Gaelic talent.
Before heading to Melbourne, Roarty will compete in the Donegal SFC final with his team Naomh Conaill. He made his debut at 17, although league regulations later clarified that players must be at least 18 to participate.
