Colton Herta Considers Indy 500 and IMSA Endurance Races Amid Uncertain 2027 Plans
Colton Herta, a 26-year-old driver from California, is contemplating his racing schedule for 2027, focusing on securing the FIA Super License necessary for Formula 1. While his immediate plans are not finalized, he is keen on participating in both the Indianapolis 500 and IMSA endurance races if his commitments permit.
Herta, who has previously achieved nine wins in IndyCar and was a championship runner-up in 2024, faced a scheduling conflict this year that prevented him from competing in the Indianapolis 500. A late addition of a Formula 2 round in Montreal disrupted his plans to drive for Andretti Global.
Currently, Herta is competing in the FIA Formula 2 Championship and is part of Wayne Taylor Racing's endurance lineup, recently achieving a podium finish at Petit Le Mans. His participation in future races will depend on how his commitments evolve in the coming year.
