Colton Herta Faces Tough Weekend at Monza, Struggles in F2 Season

Colton Herta experienced a difficult weekend at Monza, marking one of the lowest points of his Formula 2 season. The former IndyCar driver, now a test and development driver for the Cadillac Formula 1 team, has struggled throughout the season, currently sitting 17th in the standings.

During the Monza weekend, Herta qualified in 20th place, over a second off the pace. He crashed in the only practice session and faced further issues during Formula 1's FP1, where his car broke down due to a suspected hydraulic problem after just one lap. In the F2 sprint race, he finished 15th, and his feature race ended prematurely on lap 11 when he went off track.

With only 26 points accumulated and a significant gap to the championship leader, Herta's chances of contending for the title are slim. He has expressed a strong desire to reach Formula 1 quickly, but the prospects for a 2027 drive appear uncertain.
