Colts Assistant G.M. Ed Dodds Indicates Team Will Retain Anthony Richardson
The Indianapolis Colts are likely to retain quarterback Anthony Richardson for the 2026 season, according to assistant G.M. Ed Dodds. The team has not identified a trade partner for Richardson, who is in the final year of his guaranteed rookie contract.
Dodds emphasized the importance of maintaining a solid quarterback lineup, stating that if Richardson is one of the three quarterbacks, he will remain with the team. Last season, the Colts faced challenges when starter Daniel Jones suffered a significant injury, and Richardson was unavailable due to an injury from a locker-room incident.
Richardson, selected as the fourth overall pick in the 2023 draft, has already secured a training-camp roster bonus of $4.24 million and has a guaranteed salary of $1.145 million for 2026. This salary is considered low for a quarterback, making it practical for the Colts to keep him, especially as he approaches free agency in March.
