Colts' Brian Mason to Coach from Booth After Knee Injury
Brian Mason, the special teams coordinator for the Colts, will be coaching from the booth for the remainder of the preseason due to a knee injury.
Mason suffered multiple ligament tears in his knee during a sideline collision in the team's first preseason game. He has been attending practices while wearing a large brace. Head coach Shane Steichen has decided against surgery for the time being, opting for Mason to coach from the booth for the final two preseason games as a precaution.
Steichen noted Mason's toughness, mentioning that he is back on the field despite his injuries. Although Mason prefers to be on the sideline, Steichen believes it is too risky for him to do so in the upcoming weeks.
