Colts Consider Trading Key Players After GM Firing
The Indianapolis Colts are contemplating significant roster changes after their recent loss to the Tennessee Titans and the firing of general manager Chris Ballard. Owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon made the decision to dismiss Ballard following a disappointing 2-4 start to the season.
Assistant general manager Ed Dodds is expected to take over in an interim capacity, and the Colts may enter a fire sale at the upcoming trade deadline. The team is looking to acquire draft capital, especially after losing their 2027 first-round pick in a previous trade.
Among the players that contenders might target are All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson, who is set to become a free agent, and star running back Jonathan Taylor, who has had a strong season. Defensive tackle DeForest Buckner, also a potential free agent, is another player drawing interest. The Colts may also consider trading veteran defensive tackle Grover Stewart and quarterback Anthony Richardson, who could be available at a lower cost.
