Colts' Daniel Jones Faces Pressure Amid Team Struggles
The Indianapolis Colts have had a disappointing start to the 2026 NFL season, currently holding a 2-3 record after a 34-22 defeat against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 5.
There are speculations that Colts owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon may dismiss head coach Shane Steichen and general manager Chris Ballard if the team fails to reach the playoffs. Discussions among analysts suggest that Steichen might consider benching starting quarterback Daniel Jones in favor of backups Anthony Richardson Sr. or Riley Leonard, although it appears Jones will retain his starting position for now.
Jones, who is recovering from a torn Achilles, has not replicated his previous season's success, ranking 26th in adjusted QBR and 29th in passer rating this season. He has recorded four touchdowns and four interceptions over the first five games. Analysts note that unless a trade for another quarterback occurs, it is unlikely Jones will lose his job soon. He is set to start against the winless Tennessee Titans this Sunday, with the Colts favored by seven points.
