Colts Extend Contract of Punter Rigoberto Sanchez

The Indianapolis Colts have announced a two-year contract extension for punter Rigoberto Sanchez, solidifying his role on the team.

This extension was confirmed on Thursday, as Sanchez was entering the final year of his previous contract. At 31 years old, he is set to begin his 10th season in the NFL, having joined the league as an undrafted free agent from Hawaii.

Sanchez has been the Colts' punter since replacing Pat McAfee, aside from a few games missed in 2020 due to a cancerous tumor and the entire 2022 season due to a torn Achilles. Last season, he averaged 48.8 yards on 44 punts, with a net average of 44.7 yards and 50 percent of his punts downed inside the 20-yard line. The Colts will face the Lions in their preseason finale on Saturday.
