Colts' Josh Downs Requests Trade; Jonathan Taylor Remains
Josh Downs has formally requested a trade from the Indianapolis Colts, as reported by ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. The Pittsburgh Steelers are among several AFC teams interested in acquiring him.
The Colts, currently with a 2-5 record, have already begun to make moves by trading guard Quenton Nelson to the Seahawks and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to the 49ers. Despite speculation about star running back Jonathan Taylor potentially being traded before the November 10 deadline, Colts head coach Shane Steichen confirmed that Taylor has not requested a trade.
Colts owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon was open to trading Nelson and Buckner, both impending free agents, but is reluctant to part with Taylor, who recently signed a two-year, $44 million extension. The Colts are reportedly seeking a second-round pick or more for Taylor, who is a three-time Pro Bowler. Meanwhile, Downs, a third-round pick in 2023, has had a solid start to the season and could attract offers from teams looking to bolster their offense.
