Colts Plan to Retain Three Quarterbacks Amid Richardson's Uncertain Future

The Indianapolis Colts are planning to retain three quarterbacks on their roster, including Anthony Richardson, who remains with the team after trade discussions this offseason did not result in an agreement.

Richardson, a former No. 4 pick, is set to become a free agent after the Colts declined his fifth-year option. Although he requested a trade, no imminent deals were reached. Colts general manager Chris Ballard confirmed the team's intention to keep Richardson for at least another season, alongside Daniel Jones, who will be the starting quarterback, and backup Riley Leonard.

Richardson recently received a roster bonus, reducing his trade cost to $1.15 million. Despite concerns regarding his vision following an eye injury last season, the Colts are not inclined to trade him without proper compensation. However, analysts suggest that Richardson may not play for Indianapolis again, whether due to a trade or a potential third-string role.
