Colts' Special Teams Coordinator Brian Mason Suffers Knee Injury

Brian Mason, the special teams coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts, may face a significant recovery period following a knee injury sustained during the preseason opener against the New England Patriots.

The injury occurred on the last play of the game when Mason was struck by a falling player while attempting to avoid contact as Riley Leonard threw a Hail Mary pass. He immediately fell to the ground and clutched his knee.

Colts head coach Shane Steichen confirmed that Mason was being evaluated after the incident. Mason returned with the team from Foxborough, Massachusetts, and underwent further evaluation the following day. The extent of the injury, including the possibility of surgery or time missed, remains unclear, which could impact the coaching of the special teams.
