Commanders Release Kicker Jake Moody
The Washington Commanders have decided to release kicker Jake Moody, as reported by Jordan Schultz. This move leaves Drew Stevens, an undrafted free agent, as the sole kicker currently on the team's roster.
Moody, who is 26 years old, was originally selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers after playing at Michigan. He had signed a four-year rookie contract that extended through 2026, with a base salary of $941,095 for the 2024 season. After being waived by the 49ers following just one game, he joined the Chicago Bears' practice squad before being signed to the Commanders' active roster in November 2025. Moody was re-signed by Washington to a one-year deal this offseason.
During the 2025 season, Moody played in nine games across the 49ers, Bears, and Commanders, successfully converting 19 of 23 field goal attempts and 15 of 16 extra point attempts.
