Commanders Release Offensive Tackle D.J. Humphries

The Washington Commanders have announced the release of offensive tackle D.J. Humphries, who joined the team only two weeks prior. This decision was made public on Friday.

Humphries, a former player for the Arizona Cardinals, had a notable career, starting as a right tackle in 2016 before transitioning to the left side. He faced challenges after tearing his ACL in late 2023, resulting in limited playtime, with only 10 games since then, including two with the Kansas City Chiefs and eight with the Los Angeles Rams.

At 32 years old, Humphries had signed a non-guaranteed contract worth $1.3 million with the Commanders on August 25, but his release comes after the team lost left tackle Laremy Tunsil to injury. Brandon Coleman is currently positioned to fill the left tackle role, while Andrew Wylie and Josh Conerly Jr. are also part of the Commanders' offensive line as they prepare for their upcoming game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
