Commanders Sign Stefon Diggs to One-Year Deal
The Commanders have secured wide receiver Stefon Diggs on a one-year contract valued at up to $12 million, enhancing their offensive lineup with the addition of a No. 2 receiver to complement Terry McLaurin and quarterback Jayden Daniels.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, this signing is seen as a significant bargain, given that Diggs, a four-time Pro Bowler, had a market value estimated at $13.8 million annually for a two-year deal. Concerns regarding his age and a previous legal issue may have led other teams to overlook him, but a jury found him not guilty of assault charges earlier this year, and the NFL decided not to impose any penalties.
Despite the common trend of declining performance among aging wide receivers, Diggs remains optimistic about his capabilities. He has demonstrated strong performance metrics, ranking 17th in the NFL for receiving yards per game since 2023. His previous season included a notable comeback from an ACL injury, contributing to the New England Patriots' Super Bowl run. The Commanders aim to leverage his experience and skills to improve their performance following a challenging 2025 season.
