Concerns Over AEW's Increasing Time Demands

The recent decision to start the Redemption show an hour early did not alleviate the burden, as the event ultimately extended beyond its scheduled time, concluding just before 9 PM PT. Additionally, AEW Dynamite set a record by running 30 minutes past its usual hour.

The editor, who covers multiple wrestling promotions including WWE and NJPW, described the workload as exhausting, particularly since AEW's debut in 2019, which has led to an increase in programming hours. While WWE produces 6-8 hours of content weekly, AEW adds approximately 4.5 to 5 hours, with even more during pay-per-view weekends.

Despite acknowledging the quality of AEW's product, the editor expressed that the constant demand for longer matches and shows can feel overwhelming. The expectation for every match to be a standout performance contributes to a sense of fatigue, making it difficult to maintain enthusiasm for the programming. The editor concluded that in a time of abundant wrestling content, the additional hours feel more like a chore than an enhancement.
