Concerns Raised Over Joey Porter Jr.'s Contract Expectations
A report indicated that Joey Porter Jr. of the Pittsburgh Steelers could become the NFL's highest-paid cornerback if he secures a contract extension this summer. However, a Steelers beat writer has expressed skepticism about Porter's expectations.
During a recent program, Ray Fittipaldo from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette questioned the basis of the claim that Porter aims to be the top-paid cornerback, suggesting he ranks as a top-10 or top-15 player in his position. He noted that if Porter is indeed seeking the highest salary, he may need to adjust his expectations.
Porter is currently in the final year of his contract and has been on the physically unable to perform list due to a back injury. The Steelers and Porter are reportedly at an impasse regarding his contract, but Fittipaldo believes a compromise will eventually be reached, estimating a potential agreement around $28 million.
