Conflict Erupts Over Nurburgring Racing Series
ADAC Nordrhein has announced plans for a new racing series, escalating tensions surrounding endurance racing at the Nurburgring. This development, revealed on July 27, 2026, has intensified existing rivalries and raised concerns about the future of the iconic 24-hour race.
The situation involves multiple stakeholders, including VLN Sport, which has been managing endurance racing since the 1970s. The VLN is currently facing challenges due to a split in its governance and competition from ADAC Nordrhein, which has a significant influence over the Nurburgring events.
ADAC Nordrhein, with over three million members, is the primary organizer of the Nurburgring 24 Hours and has been critical of the VLN's structure. Meanwhile, NR Holding, which manages the track, is embroiled in legal disputes with VLN over access rights, further complicating the racing landscape.
