Connor Brogdon and Carlos Hernández Choose Free Agency
Connor Brogdon and Carlos Hernández, both veteran right-handed pitchers, have elected free agency this week, as reported by the MiLB.com transactions log. They were previously part of the Guardians organization.
Brogdon, who signed a major league contract worth $900K with the Guardians last winter, struggled during his time with the team, posting a 5.06 ERA over 16 innings in 16 appearances. He faced challenges with home runs allowed and was outrighted twice during the season. His performance in Triple-A Columbus was also disappointing, with a 6.35 ERA in 11 1/3 innings.
Hernández joined the Guardians on a minor league contract last November but suffered serious injuries in a car accident in January, which delayed his season. After being activated in September, he made two appearances, allowing two earned runs in three innings. He has previously played for the Royals, Phillies, and Tigers, achieving a career-best 3.68 ERA in 2021.
