Connor Hellebuyck Traded to New Jersey Devils
The trade saga surrounding goaltender Connor Hellebuyck has reached its conclusion as he has been traded from the Winnipeg Jets to the New Jersey Devils. This move comes after interest from teams like the Buffalo Sabres and Carolina Hurricanes.
The Jets will receive 25-year-old goaltender Nico Daws, forward Dawson Mercer, a first-round draft pick in 2026, center Nick Bjugstad, and two additional draft picks as part of the deal. Hellebuyck had requested a trade during the offseason and opted not to attend training camp, resulting in a suspension.
Hellebuyck, a veteran goalie with an impressive career record of 345 wins, 208 losses, and 55 overtime losses, has played for the Jets since being drafted in 2012. His accolades include multiple Vezina Trophies and a Hart Memorial Trophy. The Devils aim to enhance their goaltending situation with Hellebuyck, believing he will contribute to their pursuit of a Stanley Cup.
