Connor Zilisch Faces Challenges in Rookie Season Amid Hendrick Motorsports Move
Connor Zilisch, currently racing for Trackhouse Racing, has encountered significant challenges during his rookie season in NASCAR. Recently, he was involved in an incident at New Hampshire Motor Speedway that resulted in his ninth DNF of the year when he collided with Riley Herbst's wrecked car.
The race proved difficult for Zilisch, who started in 20th place and finished Stage 2 in 21st. As he battled with Michael McDowell, Herbst spun into a dangerous position on the track. Despite warnings from his spotter, Zilisch was unable to avoid the stationary vehicle, leading to a collision that ended his race early, classifying him 35th.
Zilisch's struggles this season have been marked by a lack of consistency, with seven of his DNFs occurring in the last 13 races. He has only one top-10 finish and currently sits 34th in the standings. Looking ahead, Zilisch is set to join Hendrick Motorsports in 2028, where expectations will be higher, as he will be surrounded by experienced drivers and a team with a storied history in NASCAR.
