Connor Zilisch Faces Frustration with Ninth DNF in Rookie NASCAR Season

Connor Zilisch's rookie season in the NASCAR Cup Series has been marked by difficulties, culminating in his ninth DNF after a crash during a recent race. Driving the No. 88 Trackhouse Chevrolet, Zilisch was involved in an incident after 222 laps when Riley Herbst crashed ahead of him, obscuring Zilisch's view.

Despite his spotter's repeated calls to stay low, Zilisch lost control and collided with the outside wall after narrowly avoiding Herbst's car. This incident resulted in Zilisch finishing 35th, with his car suffering a loss of oil pressure post-impact.

This DNF adds to Zilisch's challenging record, as he has now failed to finish in nine of the 25 races this season, with seven of those occurring in the last 13 races. In contrast, other recent Rookie of the Year candidates had significantly fewer DNFs during their seasons. With eleven races remaining, Zilisch aims to improve his performance before the season concludes.
