Contract Extension Talks for Quenton Nelson Stalled

Contract negotiations for Indianapolis Colts left guard Quenton Nelson are currently at a standstill, according to reports. Nelson, who signed a significant contract extension before the 2022 season, may find himself in a similar situation four years later.

Colts general manager Chris Ballard, who selected Nelson sixth overall in the 2018 draft, showed interest in securing a second extension in late July, coinciding with the start of training camp. However, discussions have not progressed significantly, despite Nelson's desire to finalize a deal before camp began.

Nelson's current contract, a four-year deal worth $80 million, made him the highest-paid guard at the time, averaging $20 million annually. With the recent extension of Titans guard Peter Skoronski at $25 million per year, Nelson is positioned to potentially become the highest-paid guard again. His performance has consistently earned him Pro Bowl selections and All-Pro honors, solidifying his status in the league.
