Contract Extensions Unlikely for Tyler Herro and Michael Porter Jr.

NBA insider Jake Fischer recently indicated that he does not foresee contract extensions this offseason for Tyler Herro of the Milwaukee Bucks and Michael Porter Jr. of the Brooklyn Nets.

Fischer's comments, made during a Bleacher Report live stream, left some ambiguity regarding whether he was sharing a report or merely speculating. Herro, who was traded to Milwaukee from Miami this summer, expressed that he is not particularly concerned about a potential extension. He is set to earn $33 million in the 2026/27 season before entering free agency.

Porter is also in the final year of his contract, which will pay him $40.8 million this season. Both players will be unrestricted free agents in 2027 unless they secure extensions beforehand. They remain eligible for extensions throughout the 2026/27 league year, with the possibility of agreements being reached until June 30, 2027. However, players with large expiring contracts often find themselves in trade discussions as the February deadline approaches, a scenario that could apply to both Herro and Porter.
